Narkatiaganj – Police were called to a rented flat in Prakashnagar, Ward 11, after a 35‑year‑old married woman was discovered dead under suspicious conditions. The body, identified as Gudiya Patel, bore visible marks around her neck, prompting immediate forensic attention.
Background of the victim
Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is believed to reside in Nepal. Seeking independence, she moved into the Prakashnagar accommodation several years ago.
Allegations from the family
According to statements from her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, a local resident named Ashish Jaiswal (also known as Siku) – who had been visiting Gudiya’s home for the past three to four years – is accused of strangling her. The family claims the two had a heated argument roughly four days before the tragedy, and that Gudiya had informed relatives about the dispute.
Events on the night of the incident
Relatives reported that Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying with his maternal grandmother on the night of the death, leaving Gudiya alone in the rented house. Her body was found later by neighbors who noticed an unusual silence.
Police response
Responding officers arrived promptly after receiving the tip‑off and began a thorough on‑site examination. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated that the case is being explored from every possible angle, with further steps to be decided after the post‑mortem report and any emerging evidence.
“Our focus is to uncover the truth behind this tragic loss and ensure justice for the victim and her family,” said the investigating officer.
