Dehradun – A landmark skill‑development programme has been unveiled to equip Uttarakhand’s young workforce with the capabilities demanded by today’s fast‑evolving industries. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Department of Skill Development & Employment and the M3M Foundation have formalised their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The agreement was signed in Dehradun by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Training) representing the department, and Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, Managing Trustee and President of the M3M Foundation.
Training Centres Roll Out in Four Cities
In the inaugural phase, the partnership will establish state‑of‑the‑art training facilities in Dehradun, Haldwani, Kashipur and Pithoragarh. Depending on local demand, infrastructure readiness and beneficiary availability, Almora and Barkot could be added to the network later.
Each centre will host at least two industry‑relevant courses, curated to match the specific needs of regional employers. Beyond technical instruction, the scheme emphasizes direct industry exposure, placement assistance and pathways to sustainable livelihoods for every graduate.
Curriculum Targets Future‑Ready Trades
The curriculum focuses on high‑growth technical streams that promise immediate job prospects, including Electric Vehicles (EV), Auto‑Electrical Maintenance, Automobile Repair & Maintenance, Internet of Things (IoT) and Plumbing. Course selection will be driven by local labour‑market analysis, ensuring that training aligns with real‑world demand.
Strengthening the bridge between training institutes and manufacturing or service firms is a core objective, with the aim of expanding placement pipelines and fostering long‑term industry partnerships.
Placement‑Centric Approach
Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee of the M3M Foundation, highlighted that the alliance goes beyond classroom instruction. “We are shaping curricula to mirror industry standards and actively linking graduates with employers, thereby creating sustainable income avenues for Uttarakhand’s youth,” she said.
The joint effort will also institute robust monitoring mechanisms to track employment outcomes after course completion, ensuring that the training delivers tangible economic benefits.
Key officials attending the signing ceremony included Deputy Director (Employment) Chandrakanta, Deputy Director (Training) Niranjan Khugshal, Principal Dinkar Rautela, UKSDM Nodal Officer Vinita Badoni and M3M representative Arvind Kumar Sharma.
