There was a very strong thunderstorm in the capital Dehradun at around four o’clock in the morning. Due to which trees fell at many places in the city and power went out in many areas. Along with the storm, there was rain, which brought some relief from the heat and humidity.

At the same time, the rain continued in most areas of the state from Friday night to early Saturday. Due to which the Badrinath highway was closed due to debris after Gulabkoti, which was opened at 9.30 in the morning.

In the Rudraprayag district, debris entered several houses in Narkota village due to heavy rains in the early hours. Seeing the flood of water, the villagers ran for their lives. On the other hand, debris entered a house due to the breaking off part of the hill in Khedakhal. Rishikesh-Badrinath highway is closed due to a landslide near Gholtir.

Debris has come on the road in Simli near Karnprayag. Which is being removed by JCB. Due to the strong storm that hit Barkot on Friday night, the roof of a house in Nagangaon of the Tehsil area blew up. No casualties have been reported.

Talking about Kumaon, where the road has been closed due to debris coming near Meena Bazar on Pithoragarh Ghat road. Pithoragarh-Dharchula road is closed. Poornagiri road has also been closed due to debris coming due to rain in the Champawat district.

Here the debris has come near Swanla. Due to which the Tanakpur-Pithoragarh highway has also been closed. Since Saturday morning, most areas including Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar are cloudy. There is a chance of rain. It is raining intermittently in Roorkee after a strong thunderstorm late at night.

Very heavy rain is likely at isolated places in districts like Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Nainital, and Champawat today. On the other hand, meteorologists have expressed the possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in districts like Haridwar, Almora, Udham Singh Nagar, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, and Tehri. A red alert has also been issued in these districts.

Not only this, a warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department that people living near small rivers and streams in these districts need to be a little careful. According to the report released by the Meteorological Department, due to the change in weather, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph are also likely in the plains of the state.

In the same state, there is a possibility of heavy showers along with lightning at some places.

Debris fell from the hill, cut off contact with China border
The torrential rains brought a huge amount of debris along the Ghattab-Lipulekh and Gunji-Kuti-Jyolinkang road connecting Pithoragarh to the China border. This has cut off contact with the China border. BRO is trying to open the road.

The Almora-Pithoragarh highway was also closed for about three hours on Friday morning due to debris at two places between Batuli and Aratula-Panwanaula. Kapkot, Garuda, Duganakuri, and Kanda areas received heavy rain for about two hours from 4 am on Friday. Dharamghar-Majkhet, Kapkot-Karmi-Toli, Shama-Naukuri, Rikhadi-Vachham and Kapkot-Karmi-Baghar roads were closed due to debris. After getting the information, the concerned agencies removed the debris from the JCB.

At the same time, agricultural land, drinking water scheme, and pedestrian roads have been damaged in the Bajeel and Paya villages of Almora. A house in Mirai village was partially damaged. Hundreds of drain lands have submerged in the Kali river due to the rise in the water level of the Kali river in Moonakote. Moonakote is also at risk due to earthquakes.
