Tata appointed Turkish businessman Ilkar Aisi as CEO and MD of Air India

New Delhi. Tata Sons on Monday appointed former Turkish Airlines Chairman Ilkar Aisi as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India. Tata Sons said in a release, the Board after due deliberations approved the appointment as CEO and MD of Air India. This appointment is subject to requisite regulatory approvals.

Who is Ilkar Aisi?
Ilka Aisi is a Turkish businessman. Aisi was an advisor to the current Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan in 1994. In addition, he served as the President of Turkish Airlines from 2015 to 2022. Ilkar Aisi has also held several positions in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. He also served as the CEO of several insurance companies from 2005 to 2011. In January 2011, he was appointed as the chairman of Turkey’s Prime Ministry of Investment Support and Promotion Agency.
