The trial of vaccines on children is starting today at AIIMS, Delhi. Children between the ages of 2 and 18 will be included in this. In the first phase, a total of 17 children will be tested. If Trias is successful, vaccination will be started in children.

According to the AIIMS administration, this trial will start at 9 am on Monday. The target has been set to complete in eight weeks. Children will be screened for the trial first, they will be vaccinated only after they are found completely healthy. The trial will be in several phases. In the first phase, 17 children will be covered.

Children will be given doses of Covaxin from Bharat Biotech and ICMR. Earlier, the trial of the vaccine is also going on in AIIMS, Patna. There on June 3, the first dose of the vaccine was administered to three children. Experts have described the third wave of corona as more dangerous for children. In such a situation, vaccination of children can be very helpful in protecting them from infection.

Let us tell you that Bharat Biotech got approval from drug regulator DCGI for clinical trials on children on 11 May. After this, last week AIIMS Patna started the trial of covaccine on children between the age group of 2 to 18 years.

DCGI has given approval for Phase II and III trials of Covaccine on children. AIIMS-Delhi has also been selected for the trial site along with several other institutes. Other institutes include AIIMS-Patna and Nagpur-based Meditrina Institute of Medical Science.

Recently, NITI Aayog member (health) VK Paul had said that the DCGI has approved the vaccine. It has been allowed clinical trials for the age group of 2 to 18 years.
