For the first time in the country, two separate studies have come to the fore regarding fungus and vaccines. Of these, a study conducted in 19 hospitals in 12 states revealed that those taking the CoviShield vaccine had higher antibody levels than those taking Covaxin.

Another research done on the increasing cases of black fungus said that not taking diabetes medicines along with steroids increased the risk. Black fungus has spread in 26 states of the country. It is worth noting that the fungus had spread in the country only last year.

The study has found that the cases of fungus started increasing rapidly in 2020 as compared to the year 2019, but during that time the state and central governments did not pay attention to it. Had this been the case, perhaps the deaths caused by the fungus in the last three months could have been prevented.

At the same time, a senior official of the Union Health Ministry said that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has conducted such a study. In November last year, some cases had come to the fore, about which there was not much discussion.

Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan, former president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), said the results of studies on the fungus are answering many questions, but at present, there should be a study behind the sudden outbreak. So that the reasons for the increase in cases in the second wave can be known.

80 percent antibodies in Covaxin, 98 percent in Covishield
Six hospitals in West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jharkhand and an independent study conducted together by an independent expert found that both Covaxin and Covishield were effective, but those given Covashield had higher antibodies than Covaxin.

The study took 515 healthcare workers, of whom 90 were given both doses of Covaxin. Up to 95 percent of employees in both groups developed antibodies, but the rate was 98 in those taking CovaShield and 80 percent in the group with Covaxin.

This study also highlights the importance of taking both doses of the vaccine. There have been many studies regarding the vaccine so far, but this is the first such study in the country in which the results of both Covaxin and Covishield have been compared among themselves.

Second study: 37 percent of fungus patients do not have diabetes
Research conducted between September and December 2020 in India found that 37 percent of fungus patients did not have diabetes. 18 percent of the patients were taking treatment at home, 84 percent. Out of a total of 287, 187 (65%) fungal patients were infected. These people consumed steroids for corona but did not get treatment for diabetes. 2.7 percent took tocilizumab.

After the fungus came to know that after eight days after a corona. In 2019, 112 and in 2020 92 fungal patients have been found, which did not have corona. Information on excessive steaming, nasal inflammation, other drug use, antibiotic use, environmental factors, or mask hygiene is not known.

Fungus came to these hospitals last year
In addition to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and AIIMS in Delhi, Medanta Hospital in Gurugram started receiving fungal cases in corona patients only last year. Apart from these, patients of fungus were also found in hospitals like Chandigarh’s PGI, Lucknow’s SGPGI, Ahmedabad’s CIMS, Bhopal’s AIIMS, Surat’s Venus Hospital, Mumbai’s Kokilaben-PD Hinduja, Bangalore’s St. John’s, Apollo Chennai and Hyderabad, But in November 2020, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was the first to give information about fungus patients, out of which 10 people also died.
