The Election Commission of India is now working on a plan to bring voter ID cards in digital format. This means that in the coming time, you will be able to keep the voter card in the digital format with you like the Aadhar card, and can also download it when needed.

The objective of the commission behind this scheme is to provide the Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) facility to voters easily. According to the information, a helpline will be started to get a digital voter card, through which this facility will be available on KYC. Voters will also have a physical card.

With the introduction of this facility, new voters will be able to download their card directly. They will not have to wait for the card to arrive via post. Also, voters will be able to cast their votes through a digital voter card. Along with this, the Election Commission has decided to give the benefit of this scheme to Overseas voters as well.

The digital voter card will have two QR codes. Based on the information of this code, votes can be cast via an online downloaded voter card. One of these codes will contain information about the voter’s name, father’s name, age, gender, and photo, while the other code will contain the address, serial number, and other information.

According to the information, the Election Commission has completed its preparations for this service. It is believed that after the approval of this scheme, this facility of digital voter card can be introduced for voters across the country even before the assembly elections in five states next year.
