Uttrakhand Energy Corporation’s horn rang due to Sassi electricity
Corporation buried under the burden of 1400 crores, incurring a loss of Rs.8 per unit
Dehradun. Uttrakhand Urja Nigam’s buzz has been raised in the affair of providing affordable electricity to the general public of the state. While giving cheap electricity to the consumers, the corporation is buried under the burden of 1400 crores. Now the corporation is unable to bear this burden anymore. Therefore, electricity consumers in Uttarakhand may soon get a costly electric shock. Because there is constant pressure on the energy corporation to increase the electricity rates. After which the Uttarakhand Energy Corporation sent a proposal to the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission to increase the electricity rates by 16 percent. According to the information, a detailed proposal for this will be submitted to the commission today. However, before this, the commission returned the proposal to the corporation to increase the electricity rates.
The Energy Corporation has given its arguments for increasing the price of electricity and it says that the economic loss of about 1400 crores should be compensated by buying expensive electricity. For this, the corporation has argued that there is a continuous power crisis in March, April, May, June, and July and additional power has been purchased from the market to provide regular power supply to the general public during the crisis. Due to the power crisis in the market, the rates of electricity are not coming down below Rs 12 per unit and due to this, the burden is on the energy corporation. Along with this, the corporation said that in the months of April, and May, electricity was purchased at the rate of Rs 20 per unit. This has a direct impact on the corporation and the financial burden is also increasing.
Electricity gave to the public at the rate of four rupees per unit
The corporation says that it has purchased electricity and made it available to the general public at the rate of Rs 4 per unit and due to this an additional burden of about 1400 crores has fallen on the corporation. For this, a review petition was filed last time. According to the information, the corporation had proposed to increase the electricity rates in December 2021 and after that, the commission accepted the proposal to increase the electricity rates by 2.68 percent from April 1. Whereas in May this year, the corporation proposed a 12.50 percent increase in electricity rates to the commission, which was rejected by the commission.
