CM Trivendra Singh Rawat has taken strict cognizance of the press note containing information about the application for inter-caste and inter-religious marriage promotion scheme of District Social Welfare Officer-in-charge of Uttarakhand Tehri. He has ordered an inquiry into the case.

He ordered Chief Secretary Om Prakash to investigate the matter and asked under what circumstances this order was issued. It is believed that action may also be taken against the District Social Welfare Officer in charge of the case.

In the press note issued by District Social Welfare Officer Dipankar Ghildiyal, in-charge of Tehri, information about the application for an inter-caste and inter-religious marriage promotion scheme is given. Under this incentive scheme, he said that inter-religious and inter-caste marriages can prove to be very helpful in awakening national unity and maintaining unity in society. On such marriages, the government gives a grant of 50 thousand rupees under the scheme.

This order of the social welfare officer went viral on social media and after this, political arrows were released about it. The BJP government also felt uneasy about this issue.
