Apart from skiing on the beautiful snowy slopes of Auli, tourists will also be able to fulfill the passion of fish angling in the rivers of Chamoli district. The district tourism department and fisheries department have prepared fish angling plans in Alaknanda, Mandakini, Ramganga, Nigol river, and Pinder river in the district.

For this, 32 beats (angling places) have been selected in a radius of five to five kilometers along the rivers. The Forest Department has also sought help in the selection of the above-mentioned locations for fish angling. Mandakini originates from the foothills of the Alaknanda and Trishul ranges from Satopanth near Badrinath Dham, while the Ramganga in Garasain, the Nigol at Pokhari, and the Pinder River flow from the Dewal region.

Trout fish are found in large quantities in these rivers. The district tourism department has planned to link the rivers with self-employment. The plan prescribes beets for fish angling along rivers. For this, survey work is going on these days.

Angling equipment will also be provided
District Tourism Officer Vijendra Pandey told that the fish will be angling catch and free (catch and release). Angling equipment will also be provided to angling operators under the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali scheme.

There are plans for fish angling in five rivers of Chamoli district. Fish angling will be arranged for tourists arriving in the district. For this, 32 beats have been set in a radius of five to five kilometers along the rivers. Angling operations will be given to the youth of nearby gram panchayats.
