New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, while addressing the Virtual India Mobile Congress (IMC) on Tuesday, expressed concern over the condition of 300 million Indians who are still stuck in 2G technology in the digital world. Mukesh Ambani urged the government to take steps in this direction so that 300 million people can join the digital economy of India and benefit from it. He requested the government to formulate a policy to free 30 crore Indians from 2G and shift them to smartphones.

Mukesh Ambani also made preparations to launch indigenous 5G technology in the second half of 2021. He described the 5G technology of Reliance Jio as indigenous. Mukesh Ambani said that Jio’s indigenous 5G technology is a witness to the success of the Prime Minister’s Self-Reliant India Mission.

Praising the digital mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mukesh Ambani termed it as the digital lifeline of the country during the Kovid era. Appreciating the efforts of the government, Mukesh Ambani said that the country will soon top software as well as hardware.

IMC 2020 is being organized by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The fourth edition of this event of the telecom industry is being held for the first time through video conferences due to the Coronavirus epidemic. The event will run from 8 to 10 December.

The theme of India Mobile Congress 2020 is ‘holistic exploration – smart, safe, sustainable. Its event aims to encourage Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Self-reliant India’, ‘Digital Inclusion’, and ‘Sustainable Development, Enterprise, and Exploration’.

Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of State for Telecommunications Sanjay Dhotre, and Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash attended the program. Apart from Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and President of Bharti Group also addressed the event.

The Indian Mobile Congress is expected to have 210 national and international speakers from over 30 countries and more than 3,000 delegates. In IMC 2020, various ministries, CEOs of telecom companies, global CEOs, experts in 5-G technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, cloud and edge computing, blockchain, cyber-security experts do.
