Dehradun. In order to give further impetus to tourism getting back on track in Uttarakhand, the state government has taken several important decisions related to tourism on Tuesday. In the meeting of the state cabinet held under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, it has been decided to increase the subsidy under the homestay scheme. Now under the homestay scheme, instead of Rs 10 lakh, a subsidy of Rs 15 lakh or 50 percent of the cost, whichever is higher, will be given. Apart from this, an important decision has been taken to get the development works to be done in Shri Badrinath Dham done through a single tender.

For the badly affected tourism industry during the Kovid epidemic, the state government has been continuously taking steps for the industry through various schemes. After assuming the post of Chief Minister, Shri Dhami has been continuously focusing on the development of the tourism sector. The focus of the state government is now on making the homestay scheme more attractive with the aim of providing employment opportunities in tourism. Apart from this, after accelerating the development of Kedarnath Dham, now the government is also emphasizing speeding up the development of Shri Badridham. The decision to get the development work done through a single tender taken in the cabinet will be helpful in this. After the permission of the master plan in Shri Badri Nath Dham, a compensation policy has been prescribed to give compensation to the affected.

According to the decision of the cabinet, it has been decided to increase the subsidy limit from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and a maximum of 50 percent whichever is less, to increase employment through the Deendayal Home Stay Scheme. Also, permission has been given to build homestays in leased land under the Home Stay Scheme. At the same time, the eco-tourism wing has been formed to develop eco-tourism places in Uttarakhand, so that the guidelines of the forest department can also be ensured.

Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting will accelerate the development of works in the tourism sector. Recently, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came to Shri Kedarnath Dham, had also appreciated the Deen Dayal Home Stay scheme of Uttarakhand. Along with this employment opportunities will also be created for the local people.

At the same time, Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that the development work being done in Shri Badrinath Dham will provide facilities to the pilgrims of the country and abroad. The decisions taken in the cabinet meeting will give a boost to the state’s tourism along with speeding up the development works. Which will have a direct positive impact on the employment and revenue of the state.
