The Dhami government has taken a big decision to promote sports talent in Uttarakhand. On Tuesday, the Uttarakhand cabinet has approved the proposal of ‘Uttarakhand Sports Policy 2021’. In the new sports policy, arrangements have been made to explore the talents of sports and players as well as increase interest in sports. Earlier, as Chief Sevak, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had included sports and sportspersons facilities on his agenda on priority.

The Chief Minister had said many times in public meetings that until the facilities are not provided to the players, how will they perform better? Keeping all these things in mind, the exercise of implementing the new sports policy was started and in just four months a new sports policy was prepared and implemented.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said about the new sports policy that the new sports policy will decide the gold medal journey of the players of Uttarakhand in the upcoming Olympics. The Chief Minister said that in the new sports policy, along with the fitness, general diet of the players, arrangements for extra nutrients, food diet have also been kept. Not only this, provision has been made in this new policy to provide employment opportunities and related facilities to the players of the state. According to the announcement of the Chief Minister, arrangements have also been made by the State Government to provide financial incentives for the skill development of the youth at the national-international level.

On the other hand, Sports Minister Arvind Pandey says that ‘Uttarakhand Sports Policy 2021’ is excellent and effective for the development and up-gradation of sports culture in the state. Presently, children and youth affected by electronic culture can be motivated again towards sports and move towards playfield culture.

It is worth mentioning that the young Chief Minister Dhami is making every effort to take the youth of Uttarakhand forward in every field. Earlier, to develop sports infrastructure facilities, sports universities in the state are making efforts to develop “Khelo India” level facilities at every district headquarters and open gyms in every gram panchayat. Apart from this, many sports talents including Olympian Vandana Kataria, Paralympian Manoj Sarkar are being promoted.
