Haridwar: A 60‑year‑old man passed away while undergoing treatment after his 27‑year‑old son allegedly assaulted him with a wooden stick following a brief domestic disagreement in Chandi Ghat Basti, Haridwar.
Argument Escalates Into Violence
Police reports state that the incident occurred on Friday evening while the elder, identified as Pyare, was preparing a meal with his younger son. A heated exchange erupted between Pyare and his older son, Prakash, 27, over a routine household matter. The quarrel quickly intensified, culminating in Prakash striking his father with a stick.
Father Sustains Critical Injuries
Witnesses say Pyare suffered severe head trauma and collapsed immediately after the blow. He was rushed to AIIMS, where doctors fought to stabilize him. Despite intensive care, his condition remained critical and he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
Police Launch Investigation
Law enforcement arrived at the scene promptly, securing the area and initiating legal procedures. Prakash was taken into custody for questioning, and the deceased’s body was placed under police control pending further inquiry. Authorities are probing the circumstances of the dispute and the alleged assault, promising additional action as evidence emerges.
