A 21-year-old youth from Tamil Nadu has joined the Ukrainian Army. After being rejected twice in the Indian Army due to height, Sainikesh Ravichandran is supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia. Sainikesh from Thudaliyur in Coimbatore is an aerospace engineering student at Kharkiv National University, Ukraine.

Sainikesh joins Georgian National Legion
According to reports, Sainikesh has been recruited from the Ukrainian side in the paramilitary unit of the Georgian National Legion. Intelligence people recently visited Sainikesh’s house in Tamil Nadu. Sainikesh’s parents told the officers that they always wanted to join the army. The walls of his room are full of photographs of Indian Army soldiers and officers. Sainikesh’s family asked him to return home, but he did not agree.

Rejection faced in the US Army too
Sainikesh did his schooling at Vidya Vikashini Matriculation School. Sainikesh tried to join the Indian Army after completing his 12th standard but was rejected due to his short stature. After this, he also tried to join the US Army, but due to some reasons, he did not get success there too. In September 2018, Sainikesh took admitted to the National Aerospace University in Kharkiv for a five-year engineering course that would be completed in 2023.

Family unhappy with son’s decision
When Russia started the war against Ukraine in February, Sainikesh decided to participate in the war on behalf of Ukraine. However, his family is against his decision. Sainikesh’s family has decided to meet central and state government officials so that they can get their son back.
