Dehradun. 615.48 crore has been approved by the central government for the widening and improvement of roads in Uttarakhand in the election year. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave this information about the approval of 42 roads and bridges proposals under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).

In a press conference held at the Media Center located at the State Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Minister said that with this amount, Rs 1124.25 crore has been approved for the roads of the state due to the efforts of the State Government under the Central Road Fund. Whereas in the 17 years from the formation of the state to the year 2017, only Rs.614.85 crore was approved. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning Rs.615.48 crore for the works of widening and improvement of 42 roads and bridges. He said that with the cooperation of the Centre, the situation of jam on the roads would improve, the traffic would be accessible and comfortable.

The Chief Minister said that the availability of easy means of transport has a great impact on the economic and social progress of any state. Roads act as a lifeline in the development of the state.

25 thousand crore approval has been received from the center
The CM said that approval of 25 thousand crores has been received from the Central Government for the construction, improvement, and widening of roads, bridges of Uttarakhand. In this, 12 thousand crore rupees have been approved for Doon-Delhi Express Highway.

Jogiwala-Sahastradhara Road will be four-lane
Jogiwala-Ladpur-Raipur road and Sahastradhara road will now be four-laned. The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 77.53 crore for this. This road will widen till near Khairi Mansingh.

69.26 crore for Bajrang Setu in Rishikesh
69.26 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the Manzoor Jhula bridge in place of old Lakshman Jhula on river Ganga in Rishikesh. Work will now be started on this swinging bridge, which is called Bajrang Setu.

There will be less traffic pressure in Haridwar
25.18 crore has been sanctioned by the central government for the Roorkee-Laksar-Balawali route. A double-lane road has been constructed from the Uttar Pradesh side here. Now double lane road will be constructed from Uttarakhand side. With this, the traffic of UP going to Delhi will get an alternate route. This will reduce the traffic pressure in Haridwar.

Funds approved for road safety
Pauri-Devprayag, Gaza-Jajal, Nandprayag Ghat Motor Road, Chandni Chowk and Anna Hazare Chowk in Tehri, Barwala-Judo Motor Road, Ramnagar Kaladhungi in Nainital, Gadarpur-Dineshpur-Haldwani Motor Road, Almora-Baijnath in Almora, Gwaldam, Karnprayag Motor Funds have been sanctioned for the improvement of black spots on the route.
