London. Britain’s newly elected Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has for the first time faced the threat of rebellion from his own party’s MPs. According to media reports, because of this, he had to postpone the vote on the bill related to the house construction scheme of the British government.

According to media reports, along with Sunak’s Tory Party, about 47 other MPs have signed the proposal to amend the Leveling-up and Regeneration Bill. This may prevent local councils from meeting the target of building houses as mandated.

The bill will return to the House of Commons for discussion and was due to be voted on next Monday. PM Sunak is in danger of losing the voting on this bill, as he has a working majority of only 69 members. If the 47 rebel members get the support of the anti-Labour and other opposition parties, they may suffer their first defeat.

The bill is likely to be taken up for discussion today, but a government official says a vote on it will not take place on Monday. The official said that there is no scope of time for this in the agenda of the House. He said Leveling-Up Minister Michelle Gove would continue to discuss the bill with MPs over the next few weeks and hoped to delay the vote until after Christmas.

The British government wants to build houses on a large scale in rural areas, so by bringing this bill, it wants to compulsorily build them by setting targets for the local bodies. If the Conservative Party and the opposition stop the implementation of the plan by bringing amendments to it, then it can be a kind of defeat or a big blow for the Sunak government. It has to be seen what stand Sunak Sarkar and his party’s MPs and opposition parties take in the debate to be held on Wednesday.
