Opposition parties have been praising the works of the senior-most Congress leader and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat Gahe-Bahega Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. Even though he targets the Trivendra government every day, but whenever Trivendra makes decisions related to the public interest and public sentiments, Harish also cannot stop himself from doing them. On Sunday, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has taken a big decision regarding the Ganga being called the escape channel in Haridwar.

After the meeting held in the presence of the saints of the Akhara Council and the officials of the Ganga Sabha, the government directed the repeal of the Escape Channel ordinance. In fact, the then Harish Rawat government in the state in 2016 declared the Ganga flowing from Bhagirathi Bindu, Sarbananda Ghat Bhupatwala to Harki Paidi, Mayapur, and Daksha Mandir Kankhal. This meant that this stream is a canal that is used to drain excess water into the Ganges. The pilgrim priests of Haridwar had been demanding the repeal of the ordinance for a long time.

To commemorate their demand, the Tirtha Purohit had been agitating for the last 61 days to sit on the Harki paidi. A few months ago, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat went to Haridwar and admitted his mistake regarding this ordinance. He also apologized in writing to the sage saints. He had then said that the Trivendra government can rectify their mistake.

Now that Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has rectified the mistake of Harish Sarkar, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has congratulated the Akhara Parishad and the Ganga Sabha by considering it as the right decision of CM Trivendra in a post on social media. Even before this, Harish has done CM Trivendra many times. First of all, Harish had said that CM Trivendra has controlled such ministers who used to be arbitrary during my tenure. He also praised the decisions of CM Trivendra to give jobs to the unemployed people of non-military background and all the concessions to the tourists coming to Uttarakhand through the Upanal.
