The construction work of the first phase of the bypass road in Badrinath Dham has been completed.

Dehradun. The movement of heavy vehicles of the Army and BRO (Border Roads Organisation) going to the China border area will now be smooth. The construction work of the first phase of the bypass road at Badrinath Dham has been completed under the Badrinath Master Plan. Here the hill cutting work has been completed on the bypass road from Devdarshini Jain Dharamshala to Mana Bus Stand (1.75 km) at the foothills of Nar Parvat.

The trial of vehicular movement on the road was also successful. Now after the alphabetization in the second phase, regular vehicular movement will start on the route. During the Chardham Yatra, the pressure on vehicles increases in Badrinath Dham. Along with Mana, the last village of the country, the vehicles of the Army and BRO going to the China border area also get stuck in the jam. At times, there is a jam situation in the Dham throughout the day.

Under the master plan, the construction of a bypass road was first proposed. The construction of the bypass road started in the month of April this year. The construction of a 1.75 km road has been completed in just three months. The construction was done by Gavar Construction Company of Delhi.

Joshimath SDM Kumkum Joshi said that the trial of the movement of vehicles on the bypass route was successful. Now after the alphabetization, there will be movement of heavy vehicles of Army, BRO through this road, which will reduce the pressure of vehicles in Badrinath Dham. Sunil Purohit, executive officer of Nagar Panchayat Badrinath said that the construction of the Badrinath bypass road will get rid of the problem of jams in the Dham. The movement of vehicles going to Mana village will also be done through this route.

Most of the work of Phase II of the Badrinath Master Plan will be done around the Badrinath temple complex. Buildings will be removed in 75 meters area from Badrinath temple. Acquisition of land and buildings will be started after the acquisition policy is made. It is proposed to build a bridge over Alaknanda at three places near Brahmakapal, Rishi Ganga, and Brahmakamal hotel, and to set up eight residential complexes near the Dham complex. After the demolition of the buildings around the temple, the affected families will be shifted to Dharamshalas. Compensation will be given to the affected families. In case of non-receipt of compensation, they will be allotted equivalent accommodation. Temporary shops will also be arranged for 50 shopkeepers. The works of Badrinath’s master plan will be completed in three phases.
