The Bharatiya Janata Party is now preparing to transfer the leadership to a completely new generation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started building the BJP ahead. Prime Minister Modi started this by expanding and reshuffling his cabinet. As a next step, Basavaraj Bommai, son of former Chief Minister SR Bommai, has been made the Chief Minister in Karnataka in place of Yeddyurappa. There is also a discussion within the BJP that there will be a change of leadership in Madhya Pradesh sooner and Shivraj Singh Chouhan can be replaced by Narottam Mishra, BD Sharma, Prahlad Patel, or someone else. In fact, Modi Shah’s pair is now completely preparing the BJP of its era, which will not only be completely free from the shadow of the Atal, Advani, and Joshi era, but for the coming two decades, the same faces will remain in the top line of the party leadership, who are now Responsibilities are being given.

It is worth mentioning that all the regional Chhatraps present in the BJP were born in the era of Atal-Advani’s BJP. Yogi Adityanath is the only satrap who has emerged in the post-2014 BJP. Whereas BS Yediyurappa, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, Raman Singh emerged during the era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani. At one point, all of them considered themselves to be no less than Narendra Modi (who himself was once a satrap of the BJP during Atal Advani’s era) and that is why despite the stormy rise of the BJP led by Modi in 2014, they were quite able to accept Modi as their natural leader. Trouble is happening. On the other hand, it has not been possible for Modi-Shah to remove or marginalize them. But now that Narendra Modi is in his second term and the old satraps are also almost languishing, while Vasundhara Raje and Raman Singh were weakened by the electoral debacle, Shivraj through Operation Lotus in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka after the electoral defeat. Singh Chauhan and BS Yeduyerappa again came to power. Now with the departure of Yeduyerappa, the satrap power in Karnataka BJP has come to an end, while on the other hand, the state BJP is leaving no stone unturned to marginalize Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan. Raman Singh’s activity in Chhattisgarh is also less now. Now the central leadership has started the strategy to replace Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Keeping in view the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to satisfy the backward classes by giving 27.5 percent reservation to the backward classes in medical courses. After this Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s being from the backward class will not come in the way of the central leadership. After his two-time visit to Delhi recently, speculation has intensified within the party that he has been signaled and this step may be taken anytime.

Before this, there are many indications and messages of the cabinet reshuffle that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done in the middle of the second term of his government. The first and biggest message is that the new cabinet formed on 7th July 2021 is not only Team Modi to deal with all the political and electoral challenges till 2024, but in a way, it is a matter of succession within the BJP. Trying to solve the question as well. It can be said that the Prime Minister has prepared the BJP ahead.

Another indication is that even though Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has formally got the number two status in the government, Home Minister Amit Shah has the same influence on the Modi government as Lal Krishna Advani had in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. Therefore it can also be said that even though this cabinet belongs to Narendra Modi, but the team belongs to Amit Shah. Because in the selection of new ministers and the departure of old ones, the Prime Minister has given great importance to the advice of his Home Minister. In a way, the cabinet is the beginning of the transformation and successful transfer of the BJP for the future. Rajnath Singh and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi are the only two such faces in the Modi cabinet who were ministers in the Vajpayee government as well. Similarly, the leaders of the Atal Advani era in the BJP organization are now few and far between. The leave of veterans like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Prakash Javadekar, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and Santosh Gangwar from the government is a clear indication of a change in the face of the BJP.

By the way, every Prime Minister or Chief Minister has been reshuffling and expanding the cabinet, usually in the middle of the tenure of his government. Narendra Modi in his last term and before that Manmohan Singh in both his tenures and Atal Bihari Vajpayee has also carried out a cabinet reshuffle in his tenure. In this context, this expansion of the Modi cabinet was much awaited. But with the expansion, there was such a massive reshuffle in which a total of 12 ministers, including four cabinet ministers, one minister of state with independent charge, were resigned and 43 new ministers were sworn in, no one expected.

Actually, the working style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is such that it is impossible to predict. Whether it was the sudden announcement of a new Rafale deal during a trip to France in 2015 or visiting Nawaz Sharif on his way back from Kabul without any pre-scheduled schedule to meet Nawaz Sharif or the surprise announcement of Ram Nath Kovind’s name for the presidency in 2016 or Be it the sudden demonetization, or the sudden lockdown, everything has been shocking. Therefore, those who are familiar with the working style of the Prime Minister are not surprised about the new form of the cabinet. But it is important to understand the composition of the new cabinet and its future implications. The quick reaction of a thinker very close to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was that this is a Mandal-two experiment of cabinet politics. Backward and Dalits were once represented in the central government just for show, but the way the number of backward and Dalits has increased in the Modi cabinet has reversed the old symbolic politics.

But that’s not the only thing. In fact, it is clear from this reshuffle of the cabinet that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, keeping in mind the question of his succession, removed the old ministers and kept the new ones. Among the ministers who have been removed were questions on the functioning of Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan had to resign from the questions raised about the medical system and vaccination during the second wave of Corona. Similarly, Santosh Gangwar was blamed for the employment created during the Corona period and for not solving the problem of migrant laborers properly. But the resignation of Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadekar from the cabinet and the induction of Bhupendra Yadav in the government indicated that the BJP has now entered a completely new era.

Actually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing a new BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This BJP will be such that whatever the outcome, the rudder will now be in the hands of those leaders who have now been given the responsibility of rowing the boat of the party and the government in the middle. However, the question of who after Modi is redundant because now Narendra Modi is the supreme leader of the BJP and is the Prime Minister of the country till May 2024. That is why no one in the BJP can even think about raising this question right now. But Narendra Modi himself can think about it and can also strategize its solution and he has started that work. Modi’s new team is the beginning of that strategy. Modi has brought forward those anonymous faces in his government who were in the very back row in the party. But now in the next three years, these same faces will reach the front line of BJP while in the government, and after that, they will take forward the flag of the same party in their respective states and regions. The leadership of the future will also emerge from among these new faces and the team of the leader after Modi will also be the same leader.
