Pithoragarh. State Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj today laid the foundation stone of irrigation schemes worth Rs 799.31 lakh in Munsari, Dharchula, and Didihat development blocks. Prior to the foundation stone laying, Satpal Maharaj met the party officials and workers at the district BJP office along with the District Magistrate, S.K. P. and the CDO, sitting together, solved the problems of the party workers on the spot. Maharaj expressed outrage over the slow progress of the under-construction Tharkot lake in Almoda, including the officials of the Irrigation Department, along with the Executive Engineer of the National Highway, for throwing road debris into the lake’s construction site.

State Tourism, Irrigation, and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj today prepared flood protection for the security of Kumaon Scout Malla Haat located on the right side of Kali River in the development block Dharchula from NABARD item in London Fort campus, on the fifth day of his Kumaon visit today. Layed the foundation of a flood protection scheme of Rs 351.93 lakh for the protection of the land on the left side of the Ramganga river in the planning and development block DDihat.

Addressing the local public, public representatives and departmental officers present at the foundation stone laying ceremony of irrigation schemes organized in the London Court premises of the district, the Minister of Tourism, Irrigation and Culture, Satpal Maharaj said that the irrigation department, besides other districts, for the promotion and conservation of water Along with constructing reservoirs in Pithoragarh, it is also working towards ensuring drinking water supply in rural areas. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that several schemes are in motion to promote tourism in the state.

He said that under the 13 Destination Plan for developing theme-based new destinations in 13 districts, work is being done to develop a Tulip Garden by planting 25000 bulbs in the Mostmano area (Pithoragarh) as a tulip flower. Which is also getting very encouraging results.

Maharaj said that to promote tourism activities in the state, work is underway to identify mythical religious places in each district and include them under a circuit. Under the same scheme, Shiva Circuit includes Patal Bhubaneswar of Gangolihat, Pinglinag of Pankhu, and Baidinag Temple in Berinag, Nagaraja, and Goljew Temple Circuits, Kotli (Gangolihat) Vishnu Temple in Vishnu, Ram and Narasimha Temple Circuits.

Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj said that he was struggling financially during the Corona period. The honorarium has also been doubled to provide financial assistance to 2317 folk artists and Dhol Damau promises. He told that earlier Dal Nayak was given an honorarium of Rs 500 and a traveling allowance of Rs 250. Now the honorarium has been increased to Rs 1000 and the traveling allowance to Rs 500. Similarly, the honorarium of folk artists has been increased from 400 to 800 rupees and travel allowance from 200 to 400 rupees.

Maharaj also informed that a pension of Rs 3000 is also being given by the state government for such folk artists who are old and poor and have completed 60 years of age. He said that we are planning to organize such a big event that can be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records to give international recognition to the Dhol Damau players of the state soon.

Before the program, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj met the Bharatiya Janata Party workers and office bearers at the party office, along with resolving their problems, and also asked departmental officers to maintain respect for the party workers and pick up their phones.
