Dehradun. The committee constituted for Uniform Civil Code has launched the website. Citizens of the state can give their suggestions through the website. A website has been created for testing and implementation of the Uniform Civil Code.

The committee was constituted on 27 May 2022. So far this committee has held a total of 4 meetings. The committee has held its fifth meeting in Dehradun. The committee has also formed two sub-committees for UCC.

One sub-committee is working one in Delhi and the other in Dehradun. The chairperson of the committee, Justice Ranjana Desai, appealed to women to give maximum suggestions for equality.

On August 2, the meeting of the expert committee to prepare the draft Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand was held under the chairmanship of Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai (Retd) at Uttarakhand Sadan in New Delhi. According to sources, discussions were held in the meeting regarding the laws made so far regarding the Uniform Civil Code and such laws made abroad. It was seen as to why the need was felt to enact such laws in these places.

Earlier, the minutes of the first meeting held on July 4 was presented in the meeting. In this meeting, it was decided to give importance to women’s rights in the draft of the code. Members of the committee, Justice (Retd) Pramod Kohli, former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Shatrughan Singh, Vice Chancellor of Doon University Dr. Surekha Dangwal, social worker Manu Gaur and member secretary Ajay Mishra were present in the meeting.
