Dehradun. Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has directed the Chief Conservator of Forests, Rajiv Bharati, to ensure that concrete arrangements are made to prevent the incidents of a forest fire. For this, preparations should be made on a war footing. In remote and inaccessible areas, where it is very difficult to reach, there should be the availability of helicopters for fire extinguishing.

The Chief Minister said that special attention should be paid to public awareness of Vanagni and cooperation of local people should be taken to stop it. Forests can be protected only by local participation.

The Chief Minister said that regular review of forest management should be done and availability of all necessary equipment up to the field level should be ensured. The fireline should also be monitored. Drones can also be used for this.
