An annual accident insurance policy of 02 lakhs will be provided to Anganwadi workers – CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a program organized by the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development at Sanatan Dharma Inter College Race Course on Monday. During this, the Anganwadi organization welcomed the Chief Minister and expressed gratitude for increasing the honorarium.

The Chief Minister announced on the occasion that an annual accident insurance policy of 02 lakh would be provided to all Anganwadi workers. The monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers will be given digitally directly in their accounts. 25% posts of Anganwadi workers will be filled by Anganwadi helpers who have completed 10 years of satisfactory service and fulfill the required educational qualifications. A total of 20 kg food grains/per card will be provided every month from December 2021 to March 2022 to the people in the state to whom the National Food Security Act is not applicable. The one rupee which had to be paid for sanitary napkins through Anganwadi centers by the Department of Women’s Empowerment and Child Development will now be provided free of cost.

The Chief Minister said that mother power has a big role in the development of Uttarakhand, many works are being done by the state government in the direction of women empowerment. Matrishakti played an important role in the Uttarakhand state-building movement. The government is working as a partner of the people. In the last five months, the government has taken more than 500 decisions and mandates have been issued on them. The Chief Minister said that it is our endeavor that by 2025, the state should become a leading state in every field. To promote sports, a new sports policy has been formulated in the state. Plans are being made keeping in mind every category.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has tried to repay the loan of Anganwadi workers by increasing their honorarium. Everyone knows very well how Anganwadi workers work in adverse conditions. The Chief Minister said that the elementary education of both his children has also been done in the Anganwadi center itself, so he is well aware of the hard work of the Anganwadi workers. The empowerment of women is necessary for the development of the state. Commendable work is being done by women’s self-help groups in the state.

The Chief Minister said that after the Corona period, the income resources of the government have also decreased, but despite this, the government did not skimp in increasing the honorarium. The government released a Kovid relief package of Rs 119 crore to strengthen the women of the state engaged in livelihood. Apart from this, the government has increased the honorarium of employees working in all departments including Asha, Upanal.

Cabinet Minister Mati Rekha Arya said that Anganwadi workers play an important role in various activities in the state. Support is given by the Anganwadi sisters in every field. All possible work is being done by the state government in the interest of the Anganwadi sisters. Many schemes are being run by the Central and State Governments in the field of women and child development. In the last five years, considering the Anganwadi centers as the pivot of health and nutrition at the village level, many facilities such as gas cylinders, drinking water, toilets, sanitation kits, pre-school kits, medicine kits, and kitchen gardens have been provided in the Anganwadi centers. As a result of the strong and active presence of Anganwadi workers at the village level, nutrition is provided to about 9 lakh beneficiaries every month through Anganwadi centers.
