Mumbai. Actress Kangana Ranaut, who has always been in the news, has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition filed in the Supreme Court against actress Kangana, who is in controversies regarding the farmers’ agitation. Mumbai-based advocate Charanjit Singh Chanderpal had filed the petition saying that Kangana has insulted the Sikhs by linking the farmers’ movement with Khalistan. The apex court assured the petitioner that the general public understands the difference between Sikh and Khalistani. Instead of coming to the Supreme Court, he should have taken other legal options.

Justice D.Y. A bench of Chandrachud and Bela M. Trivedi told the petitioner that the court respected his sensitivity. But the more he publicizes Kangana’s statements on social media, the more he will help her. Chandrapal, however, insisted that Kangana has made several objectionable statements against the Sikh community and that some action should be taken against her. The actress had described the country’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as her mentor. This was also a statement hurting the sentiments of the followers of Sikhism. The petitioner had demanded that the cases filed across the country regarding this matter be transferred to Khar police station in Mumbai.

The petition also sought the imposition of censorship on all social media posts of the actress. On which the court made it clear that there is no need to directly approach the Supreme Court in this matter under Article 32 of the Constitution. The petitioner can also take other legal options. At the same time, on the demand for transfer of all the cases to Mumbai, the court said that only the complainant and the accused in a criminal case can make such a demand. No third party has any such right.
