UPI transactions will become expensive from January 1, ie New Year. Now, on paying someone through UPI, the customer will have to pay an additional charge. If someone makes online payment through UPI using third-party apps, then he will have to pay a higher charge.

NPCI’s decision
The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has taken this decision from January 1 to levy additional charges for payments through UPI. NPCI has imposed a 30 percent cap on third-party apps in the new year. The reason behind this decision is to stop any third app with a monopoly and special benefits according to its size.

Payments will be affected by these apps, discount to Paytm
People will have to pay an additional charge on payment from third-party apps like PhonePe, GooglePay, Amazon Pay. However, NPCI has not imposed any additional charge on apps like Paytm. It has been informed by the government that about 200 crore UPI transactions are taking place every month.

Monopoly can be a problem
These UPI transactions are being done through multiple payment apps. The government says that in the coming days the figure of UPI transactions in the country is going to increase further. This is a good sign for the goal of Digital India, but in such a case there may be a possibility of the monopoly of any third-party app in case of UPI transactions, which is not right in this direction.
