Incident Summary

At around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus en route from Manali to Pathankot toppled near the Police Line area of Bashing in Kullu district. The vehicle, which was carrying four passengers together with the driver and conductor, rolled onto its side, leaving all six people aboard with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

People Injured

The injured parties comprise four passengers—Shyam Lal, 45, Krishna Thapa, 42, Chhaya Devi, 25 and Rakesh Kumar, 31—as well as the driver, Manmohan Singh, 42. The conductor, Praveen, 46, sustained only light injuries. All six victims were promptly taken to the Regional Hospital in Kullu for medical care.

Police Action and Inquiry

Local law‑enforcement officials arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and have opened an investigation into the cause of the overturn. Officers are collecting statements from witnesses and inspecting the road conditions around the Police Line to ascertain whether driver error, mechanical failure, or external factors were responsible.

Importance of the Route

The Manali‑Pathankot corridor is a vital link for residents and tourists moving through the Kullu valley. Because the accident occurred in the early hours, the bus was relatively lightly loaded, a fact that may shape the ongoing probe.

Current Situation

Medical teams continue to monitor the patients’ conditions, while police officials have pledged to provide further updates as the investigation proceeds.
