Arrests and confiscated weapons
The Crime Branch unit based in Farukhnagar, Gurugram, arrested three young men believed to have plotted a large‑scale criminal act in Delhi aimed at sowing terror. During the operation, officers seized two pistols of foreign origin together with five cartridges.
The individuals taken into custody are:
- Abhay (alias Maulad), 20 – resident of Kheda Jhajhrola village.
- Jatin (alias Jony), 29 – hailing from Patel Nagar, Sonipat.
- Sagar – also from Kheda Jhajhrola.
All three have been booked under the Arms Act at Sector‑10 police station.
How the arrests unfolded
Separate teams cornered the suspects at different points. Abhay was apprehended near the Garhi flyover on the New Pataudi‑Gurugram Road, Jatin was nabbed in Farukhnagar, and Sagar was intercepted close to the KMP in the same vicinity. While trying to evade capture, Sagar attempted to jump from a flyover, broke his leg and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Further legal steps will follow his discharge.
Investigation into the source of the firearms
Interrogations indicated that Abhay received the pistols from Jatin. Authorities are now tracing how Jatin acquired the weapons, with early leads suggesting that the guns passed through additional intermediaries.
Police suspect the trio maintained contact with contacts abroad, possibly receiving directives for illicit money recovery and extortion activities. The alleged plot was intended to carry out a major crime in Delhi to spread fear, though the exact targets remain under investigation.
Probing a broader criminal network
Investigators are mapping the entire supply chain that delivered the firearms to the accused, scrutinising communication logs and seeking other participants in the conspiracy.
Records show that Jatin already faces a case in Delhi under the Excise Act, prompting officials to review his earlier dealings as part of the current probe.
ACP Naveen Sharma stressed that the enquiry continues to uncover the origin of the weapons, the wider network, and any further criminal connections the arrested individuals may have. The investigation remains active, with updates expected as questioning proceeds and new leads are verified.
