Rampur Tiraha Golikaand: The Wounds of That Night Have Not Yet Healed, The Limits of Humanity Had Been Crossed.

The wounds received by the state agitators in Rampur Tirahe in Muzaffarnagar on the night of October 1 and the morning of October 2 in 1994 have not been sustained even after 26 years. The night of October 1 proved to be a transcendence of repression, coercion, and inhumanity.

Because of all this, the result also got exactly the opposite of politics. The agitation of the state movement intensified and the leaders who said Pahar did not vote for me became a villain overnight.

This was the period when this mountainous part of Uttar Pradesh came out of the mess of Mandal. The slogans of “Koda-Jhangora would eat, make their Uttarakhand” swim in the air. Everyone was associated with the state movement in one way or the other. The mountain was then known for two things – Punishment posting or Army.

The State Movement Sangharsh Samiti was born and it was decided to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on 2 October. Many leaders of the state movement had already reached Delhi. It was due to this call and the spirit of the movement that people left for Delhi on October 1 by filling buses from Garhwal and Kumaon.

There was Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government in Uttar Pradesh and it was decided not to let the agitators go any further. The first blockade on the Narsan border. The administration became helpless in front of the agitators here. When the convoy of hundreds of buses moved forward, the state agitators faced the police administration present at Rampur Tiraha with full preparation.

People Were Gathering in Large Numbers
The agitation of some movement and the presence of a large number of people gathered that the oppressive form of power came to the fore. What happened after that has been repeated many times. The night became darker due to incidents of police firing, havoc on the helpless, rape. All this went on throughout the night.

Something else happened in the midst of this inhumanity, giving humanity a chance to breathe a little. The locals came forward to help the injured, to provide shelter. If the state agitators found the wounds, then the wounds of their wounds were also healed.

This is the Rampur Tiraha which also changed the political stance. Mulayam Singh became the villain. His party could not set foot in the mountain. The fire of the state movement intensified. The name of Rampur Tirahe was also added to the movement after Khatima and Mussoorie. Later times witness that this year of 1994 did not remain quiet even after this. Its echo was heard even in Sri Yantra island. The state was formed on November 9, 2000, but the wounds of the state movement are not yet filled.

Muzaffarnagar Scandal Intensified Demand For a Separate State
The demand for Uttarakhand state-building was intensified after the bullet incident in Rampur Tiraha Muzaffarnagar. The agitators continued the agitation throughout the state demanding a separate state. After the incident in Muzaffarnagar, there was a lot of anger among the state agitators and people of the state.

Senior state agitator Ramlal Khanduri said that as soon as possible, a phase of dharna and protests started all over the state to demand a separate Uttarakhand. Everything from school children to elders, the elderly, and women had jumped into the movement.

It was a period when governments too had to seriously consider a separate Uttarakhand state. Then there was hardly any area of the state where there was no movement. The movement came to a halt only after the formation of a separate state on 9 November 2000.
