Badrinath Highway: Bridge Under Construction Collapsed While Applying Shuttering

A tragic accident occurred near Vyasi on the Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand on Sunday night. While under construction, the four-lane bridge suddenly collapsed while shuttering. One laborer died in the accident, while 13 laborers are fighting for life and death.

According to the information, there were 15 laborers working here, out of which one laborer is safe. 14 workers were referred to the Higher Center in critical condition, out of which one worker died during treatment. SDRF officials have confirmed this.

As soon as the information was received, the police administration and SDRF team left for the spot. According to Munikireeti Police Station RK Sakalani, one laborer was safe in the accident, while 13 were seriously injured.

According to Mr. Pritanjay Sharma, Assistant Engineer, PWD National Highway Section, the accident occurred during the shuttering of the bridge. The bridge was to be slab on Monday. Half of the 90-meter bridge has already been built. Now 45 meters had to be built. The shuttering of the under-construction part has fallen.

He informed that Raj Shyama Construction Company is working on this package. While the Government of India has appointed Ayolija Construction Pvt Ltd as a consultancy agency. The consultancy works under the supervision of the company. There were no complaints of work disturbances from the company.

Public Works Department Secretary RK Sudhanshu has ordered the Chief Engineer of NH to investigate the accident. He said that action will be taken against the contractor in the case. The team has also been sent for investigation.
