The war between Russia and Ukraine has entered its 64th day. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Ukraine on Wednesday to hold talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier in Moscow, he met Russian President Vladimir Putin, who gave in-principle approval to involve the United Nations in evacuating civilians from the Azhovstal plant in Mariupol. Guterres tweeted: “I have arrived in Ukraine after visiting Moscow. We will continue to work to expand humanitarian aid and evacuate people from war zones. The sooner this war ends, the better for Ukraine, Russia, and the world.” Guterres will meet with Zelensky and Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba on Thursday.

At a meeting of representatives of 40 countries including the US at Germany’s Rammstein Air Base, it has been decided to equip Ukraine with heavy weapons. Here is also the European Headquarters of the US Air Force. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said, “Countries around the world are united in our resolve to help Ukraine in the fight against Russia.” The US and its allies in Europe have announced to provide howitzer guns, drones, anti-aircraft Stinger, and anti-tank Javelin missiles to Kiev. Departing from its old stance, Germany has also announced the supply of anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine.
