Islamabad. At least six workers were killed in a gas explosion at a coal mine in the Harnai district of Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province. The officials gave this information to the media. According to reports, six laborers were working inside the Shahrag coal mine in the district when the mine exploded causing a portion of it to collapse.

Officials said the fire broke out after a gas explosion about 1,500 feet deep inside the mine, which sealed the entrance to the mine. As a result, the laborers got trapped in the mine itself. Local media said that activists and rescue teams from the area immediately rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation, extricating the bodies after a seven-hour operation.
