What triggered this round of changes?
The Uttar Pradesh Police has issued a fresh batch of transfer orders this week, affecting five Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs) across the state. While three officers have been allocated new stations, two previously announced moves have been cancelled.
Updated postings
Santosh Kumar‑I – originally slated to move from his role as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Gautam Buddh Nagar to Lucknow, his transfer was withdrawn. He will stay at the Director General’s headquarters in Lucknow and assume the post of ASP (North) for Bareilly.
Pawan Gautam – earmarked for ASP Kasganj, the officer will instead take charge as ASP in Rae Bareli.
Alok Singh‑III – previously heading the ASP office in Rae Bareli, he will now be posted as ASP in Kasganj.
Transfers that were scrapped
Alok Kumar Jaiswal – his relocation from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board in Lucknow to the ASP (North) position in Bareilly has been cancelled.
The cancellation also applies to the earlier order moving Santosh Kumar‑I from Gautam Buddh Nagar to Lucknow; he will remain in his revised assignment instead.
District‑wise impact
The reshuffle reshapes senior police leadership in three districts. Rae Bareli will now be overseen by Pawan Gautam, Kasganj will be led by Alok Singh‑III, and Bareilly will see Santosh Kumar‑I at the helm.
Why the shuffle matters
Mid‑term re‑assignments like these highlight the dynamic nature of police administration in Uttar Pradesh, where strategic redeployments aim to tackle local law‑and‑order challenges and align senior officers with shifting priorities.
