Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has once again been accused of a ‘relief scam’ after MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana couple got bail. While granting bail, the court raised questions that there were no concrete grounds of sedition against the couple in the FIR, with Raut calling the remarks a relief scam.

Attacking the BJP, the Shiv Sena MP said that looking at the Center, it seems that British rule was better. A relief scam is going on in the country, there are many aspects to it. Crimes and allegations are being proved only against us, but why are similar allegations not being proved against others?

Mumbai Special Judge RN Rokade, while granting bail to the Rana couple, said on Wednesday that prima facie it appears that a case of sedition is not made out under Section 124A of IPC. The court has said in its order that the MP-MLA couple has undoubtedly crossed the limit of freedom of expression provided in the Constitution, but a mere expression of derogatory or objectionable words cannot be a sufficient ground to charge sedition against them.

The Rana couple was arrested by the Khar Police of Mumbai on 23 April. A case of sedition was filed against him under sections 124A and 153A of IPC for spreading enmity between two communities.
