Family’s brief stop escalates into a midnight robbery
Traveling in the early hours, Vivek and his relatives pulled over near Rai to combat mounting fatigue. After securing the vehicle, they settled inside for a short rest, unaware that a crime was already unfolding.
Sequence of the break‑in
In the dim pre‑dawn light, Vivek awoke to see a man standing beside the car, rifling through the locked doors. The intruder confiscated a bag, a laptop, a mobile phone, earbuds, chargers and other personal belongings. Before Vivek could react, the suspect sprinted, leapt over a metal railing and linked up with two accomplices waiting on a motorcycle across the road.
Getaway on a bike
The trio sped away on the motorcycle, leaving the family bewildered and their possessions vanished. Vivek approximated the loss at around ₹2.25 lakh.
Police response and ongoing probe
Vivek, a resident of Maruti Kunj, filed a formal complaint with the Rai police, urging swift recovery of the stolen items and arrest of the culprits. Authorities have logged the FIR and are reviewing witness statements, CCTV footage and any leads that could identify the thieves and trace their escape route.
Investigators highlighted the need for heightened caution during roadside halts, especially in secluded areas, and advised motorists to double‑check vehicle locks before taking a rest.
