MCX Gold Futures Retreat

On Monday, 5 October, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded the October‑delivery gold contract slipping to around ₹1,49,347 per 10 g, a fall of roughly ₹1,043 in the session. The dip came even as global gold prices posted a modest rise, highlighting the split trajectory between domestic futures and the international market.

Silver Rockets Nearly ₹700

Silver moved in the opposite direction, climbing about ₹697 to close near ₹2,26,393 per kilogram on the MCX. The metal’s jump outperformed gold locally and echoed a stronger percentage gain overseas.

Current Indian Gold Prices by Purity

24‑carat (24K) gold

India’s purest grade, 24‑carat gold, is quoted at approximately ₹1,49,540 per 10 g. Its near‑pure composition commands the highest price among standard categories.

22‑carat (22K) gold

Favoured for jewellery, 22‑carat gold is listed at about ₹1,37,078 per 10 g. The slightly lower gold content makes it a go‑to choice for detailed designs.

18‑carat (18K) gold

The 18‑carat segment trades near ₹1,12,155 per 10 g. With a reduced gold proportion, it offers a more budget‑friendly alternative for everyday pieces.

Silver Price Snapshot

Domestically, silver was hovering around ₹2,26,770 per kilogram. The metal continues to draw investor interest, having outpaced gold during Monday’s trading.

Global Benchmarks Remain Bullish

On the international front, both metals posted gains. COMEX gold nudged up about 0.06 % to $4,164.80 per ounce, while silver surged roughly 1.46 %, reaching $61.30 per ounce.

Why Your Final Cost Might Vary

Precious‑metal rates can swing multiple times throughout a trading day. Moreover, the amount you pay for jewellery usually exceeds the quoted bullion price because of making charges, taxes and design intricacies. Always confirm the latest local rates and applicable fees before finalising a purchase.
