College Student Attacked After Refusing to Befriend a Boy, Video Threat Turns Viral

Satna, Madhya Pradesh – A disturbing case of assault and intimidation involving a college student has emerged. According to the police report, four girls took the 19‑year‑old student to a remote spot, physically abused her, and captured the whole episode on video. The attackers allegedly demanded that she become friends with a particular male student, threatening to release the footage if she refused.

The alleged assault took place on August 6, but it only came to light over a month later when the video began circulating on Instagram and WhatsApp. The victim then approached the Kolgawan police station to file a complaint.

According to the FIR, an acquaintance invited the student to a market under the pretext of some work. From there, the accused escorted her on a scooter to a field where three other girls were already waiting. Once there, the four girls verbally abused the student and proceeded to assault her.

The complaint further states that the girls were pressuring the victim to communicate with the boy in question. When she declined, they attacked her and even forced her to apologize to the boy during a video call.

Matter Reached Police After the Video Went Viral

The victim alleges that the perpetrators warned her they would make the assault video public if she disclosed the incident. Ironically, the video later spread widely on social media, prompting the student to involve the authorities.

Taking cognizance of the viral clip, the police launched an investigation and, on Saturday, registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 296(b), 115(2), 351(3) and 3(5).

"The video’s circulation forced us to act," said a police spokesperson, emphasizing that the law will address both the assault and the intimidation through the threatened video.
