New Delhi. In a high‑stakes operation that unfolded just after midnight, Delhi police detained two individuals linked to a shooting that erupted at a house in Bhajanpura. Both men sustained gun‑shot injuries to their legs during the clash. Officers also confiscated three semi‑automatic pistols, eighteen rounds of ammunition and an unregistered motorcycle used by the suspects.

Who were the arrested suspects?

The two apprehended persons are identified as 23‑year‑old Jasim, locally nicknamed “Aloo,” a resident of Welcome, and 23‑year‑old Kaif, who is known among his peers as “DJ.”

What triggered the confrontation?

According to official statements, the pair opened fire on a police team that tried to intercept their movement. The exchange lasted several rounds, with two bullets striking the officers' bullet‑proof vests. Police returned fire, wounding both suspects and securing their capture.

How the incident was first reported

The episode began late on 2 October, around 2:43 a.m., in Gali No. 16 of Subhash Vihar, North Ghonda, under the jurisdiction of Bhajanpura police station. A resident who stepped onto his balcony recounted that two youths arrived on a scooter, brandishing pistols, firing at him and into the air before speeding away.

The stray shots shattered the balcony’s glass railings and dented the exterior wall, though no one was hurt. A case was lodged under sections dealing with attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act.

Tracing the perpetrators

A Special Staff team was mobilised to locate the gunmen. By reviewing nearby CCTV footage and gathering tips from locals, police learned that the duo intended to ride a motorcycle from Nanaksar toward Usmanpur via Third Pushta Road.

Positioned along the suspected route, officers spotted the two on a bike lacking a number plate at roughly 2:45 a.m. When ordered to halt, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting a police response that culminated in their arrest.

Background checks on the accused

During the seizure, investigators recovered three semi‑automatic pistols, eighteen cartridges and the unregistered motorcycle. A background check on Jasim revealed an existing Arms Act case registered with the Special Cell, whereas Kaif appears to have no prior criminal record.

Both men allegedly admitted to taking part in the balcony attack and claimed they were acting on instructions from a figure known as Rashid, alias “Cablewala.” Detectives are now probing the motive behind the shooting and whether additional individuals were involved in planning or executing the assault.
