Heightened security and traffic arrangements for President Murmu’s three‑day Himachal itinerary
Ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s swing through Himachal Pradesh, police, Home Guard and other security outfits have intensified checkpoints, roadblocks and crowd‑control measures along the Bilaspur‑Manali corridor. The reinforced presence is intended to guarantee a smooth passage for the President’s engagements at AIIMS Bilaspur, the Manali region and the Atal Tunnel.
AIIMS Bilaspur outpatient services suspended for one day
All routine OPD activities at AIIMS Bilaspur will be paused on Tuesday. No fresh registrations or regular consultations will be entertained during this period. The shutdown is limited to outpatient care; emergency services and treatment for in‑patients will continue without interruption.
President to attend AIIMS convocation ceremony
The President is slated to land on the AIIMS Bilaspur helipad at roughly 10:35 a.m. and join the convocation that kicks off at 10:45 a.m. The ceremony will see 92 doctors, nursing trainees and paramedical students receive their degrees. After the event, she will head to Manali around 11:55 a.m. and remain in the hill station for the following two days.
Vehicle movement curtailed near the Atal Tunnel
Travel to the Atal Tunnel will be temporarily restricted as part of the security plan. Authorities have announced that vehicular flow toward the tunnel will be stopped from 6 p.m. on 6 October until noon on 7 October. Specifically, the segment between Palchan and the Rohtang‑Atal Tunnel entrance will be closed during this window. Motorists are advised to modify their itineraries accordingly.
President’s agenda at the Atal Tunnel and in Manali
On Wednesday morning, President Murmu will inspect the Atal Tunnel before returning to Manali. A short visit to the nearby Hidimba Temple is also on the schedule. She is expected to depart Himachal Pradesh for Delhi on 8 October.
Emergency department stays fully operational at AIIMS
While routine OPD doors will be closed, the emergency wing will remain open 24/7. Patients already admitted will continue to receive uninterrupted care. AIIMS officials have urged anyone needing non‑urgent follow‑ups or regular check‑ups to postpone their appointments to a later date.
These temporary measures are solely aimed at facilitating the President’s movements and ensuring a secure environment for all official functions in Bilaspur and Manali.
