New Central Grant Strengthens Himachal’s Farm Sector

The Union government has unlocked a fresh infusion of ₹64.82 crore to fuel agricultural initiatives throughout Himachal Pradesh. The funds target two cornerstone programmes designed to modernise farming practices in the hill state.

How the Money Is Divided

Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre earmarks ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore is channelled through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Combined, the two allocations constitute the complete ₹64.82 crore package.

Political Leaders Praise the Allocation

Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial support. Thakur noted that the fresh tranche will solidify ongoing infrastructure works and spark new projects aimed at bolstering Himachal’s farm sector.

Planned Utilisation of Funds

The capital will back a spectrum of activities—from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to skill‑building workshops for cultivators. Strengthening both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana will accelerate planned interventions and sustain momentum on existing schemes.

Wider Implications

This disbursement forms part of a broader central strategy to ensure timely financing for state‑level agricultural programmes. The latest Himachal tranche underscores the ongoing collaboration between the centre and the state to keep vital farm initiatives financially robust.
