New Delhi. Early Monday morning a wave of bomb‑threat emails landed in the inboxes of several schools across Delhi, prompting principals to activate emergency procedures and evacuate all pupils and personnel.

Multiple institutions targeted

Among the schools mentioned were Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate and Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Vasant Vihar, along with a few other institutions dotted along the Lutyens’ Delhi corridor. Although the messages were sent at dawn, administrators only became aware of the threats between 11 a.m. and noon.

Immediate mobilisation of police and fire services

Once the alerts were verified, each campus contacted the Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services, putting their crisis‑management plans into action. Students and teachers were escorted out of the buildings while specialised units arrived on site.

Bomb squad and canine units deployed

Police teams equipped with bomb‑detection experts and sniffer‑dog squads rushed to the affected schools. The fire department also responded; the Delhi Fire Services control room recorded a call regarding the Vasant Vihar school at about 12:30 p.m., dispatching a fire tender and personnel to assist with the evacuation.

Thorough anti‑sabotage sweeps were conducted throughout the premises. At the time of writing, investigators confirmed that no explosive devices or hazardous materials had been found.

Parents kept informed

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya quickly notified parents that all students had been safely evacuated and that classes would only resume once authorities gave clearance.

This incident echoes similar bomb‑threat emails received by the same school and a handful of other Delhi institutions roughly two weeks ago, during the exam period, which also triggered extensive security checks.

Police and security agencies are still analysing the latest emails to trace their source, while schools across the capital remain on heightened alert.
