Assam: Final List of NRC to Be Released Today, Heart Beats of Millions of People Increased, High Alert in The State

For the first time since 1951, the work of identification of citizenship happening in Assam is being done under the supervision of the Supreme Court. With the final list of NRC to be released on Saturday, the hearts of millions of people have increased with regard to their future.

However, the state government has assured the people not to be intimidated and help is possible if the names are not listed in the list. Also, four months’ deferment will be given to prove his citizenship. At the same time, security arrangements have also been strengthened to deal with any untoward incident. A large number of security forces have been deployed on Assam. Special surveillance is being done in sensitive places.

At the same time, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has appealed to the people living outside the NRC list not to be terrorized or intimidated. He said that the government will take every possible step to prove its citizenship to every true Indian and will also provide legal help to the poor. He said that people outside the final list would not be immediately sent to detention centers.

The decision for the future of 41 lakh people

The future of around 41 lakh people will be decided on Saturday amid heavy tension, apprehension and tight security in the northeastern state of Assam. The list of NRC will be online at 10 am on Saturday. People can check their name at home. Those who do not have internet connections can find their status by visiting government-established service centers.

37 lakh people appealed with new documents

The NRC issue issued on July 30 last year did not include the names of 40.7 lakh people. After this, one lakh additional names were also removed in another list released on 26 June this year. After that, about 37 lakh of these people have appealed again with new documents. Apart from this, objections have also been lodged to about two lakh names already included in the list.

14 districts declared sensitive

Keeping in mind the tension prevailing in the state, security has been tightened in all areas due to any disturbance. Apart from the state police personnel, a large number of central forces have also been deployed. Special arrangements have been made to monitor 14 districts of the state by declaring them sensitive. The Center has sent 20 thousand additional Armed Forces personnel to Assam. A high alert has been issued in the entire state. The government has decided to give ten months time before sending them to detention centers, giving relief to those who do not join NRC. Such people can appeal within four months. His appeal will be decided during the next six months.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that those left out of the final list of NRC will not be immediately sent to detention centers. Police said the time limit to appeal to the foreign tribunal has been increased from 60 to 120. The government has also assured to provide free law aid to such needy people. Two hundred additional foreign tribunals will be set up in the state by next month. The government has appealed to the people to keep the peace and ignore the rumors. The police have started strict monitoring of social media to curb the rumors.
