Fast‑Tracked Growth and New Standards

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda praised the meteoric rise of AIIMS Bilaspur, noting that the hospital has already exceeded its original 750‑bed blueprint and now runs with 776 beds. In a remarkably short span, it has introduced 26 specialty and 15 super‑specialty units, covering everything from complex cardiac catheterisations to cutting‑edge radiotherapy and neurosurgery.

Rising Patient Numbers

The outpatient department has logged over 12 lakh consultations in the past four years, while inpatient admissions have topped the one‑lakh threshold. In the fiscal year 2024‑25 alone, OPD visits surged past three lakh and diagnostic investigations crossed ten lakh, reflecting growing public confidence in the institute’s capabilities.

Academic Achievements and Leadership Milestones

AIIMS Bilaspur admitted its first MBBS cohort in January 2021 and was officially inaugurated in October 2022. The recent convocation marked the graduation of that inaugural batch, a landmark for the institute’s teaching mission. President Droupadi Murmu, present at the ceremony, urged the new doctors to anchor their practice in service to humanity and to extend high‑quality care to the remote corners of Himachal Pradesh.

Expanding Clinical Infrastructure

Beyond the rising bed count, the hospital now delivers a broad range of high‑end services: major surgeries, cardiac interventions, dialysis, comprehensive diagnostics, and a dedicated oncology wing. Faculty and staff have been lauded for achieving this scale at a speed that typically takes newer AIIMS campuses many more years.

Future Outlook

Minister Nadda expressed confidence that within the next two to three years, AIIMS Bilaspur will stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the country’s flagship AIIMS institutions. Ongoing investment in specialised departments and patient‑centred care is set to cement its status as a premier hub for advanced healthcare and medical education in Himachal Pradesh.
